Self care and pampering for cancer patients: Supporting the Mary Potter Complementary Therapy Program
During the Adelaide Silver Style Gala Ball, the foundation added a mystery live auction item – a gift of day of personal care to patients and their families in palliative care at Calvary or the Mary Potter Hospice. The response from the attendees was overwhelming and heart-warming, and with the generous support of the people in the room the auction item raised $17,045.00 for the program.

Inspiring South Australian Women 2023 - Commendation
We are delighted to share that LLRF Chair Madelyn Duckmanton received a commendation in the Inspiring South Australian Women's Award 2023, from the Australia Day Council of South Australia. This tremendous achievement reflects her dedication to raising awareness of Ovarian Cancer, through funding research and speaking at community events.

How Improved Treatment will Improve Outcomes
We often speak about our focus on funding research to find an early detection test, however this is not the only research that we support. Alongside a screening test, we are also focussing our efforts to fund research to improve treatment for women diagnosed with Ovarian Cancer.

Research Funding for Early Detection and Improved Treatment
The LLRF board and I recently had the pleasure of meeting with some of the research team working on the projects that the foundation is supporting, and I would like to share some information about the research we are helping to fund at the University of South Australia.

What causes Ovarian Cancer ?
To date the causes of Ovarian Cancer are unknown, however what we do know is that there are some common risk factors, including age, genetic factors, family history, endometriosis, hormonal factors and lifestyle.
